It is a cold and rainy spring day in May 2021 when we visit Frank Lidbäck, responsible production leader of Norrhuset, managing one of Luleås most recent construction project Dalbo. Arriving at the scene we count 11 different building areas sporting the banners of Norrhuset.

Norrhuset builds client designed villas and holiday homes in their factory in Luleå and the joist consists of the hybrid-solution Posi-Joist™. The beams are constructed by my travel companion for the day, Johan Eriksson from Granholmen Träteknik in the city of Piteå, not far from the building site. Questioning Frank about the main challenges regarding joists he, after a moment of consideration, replies "Well, nowadays there are not so many challenges left since this solution lets you pull the piping through the beams. When it comes to bathrooms upstairs with an even tighter C/C 300 mm we used to have serious problems to access with a drill for the piping. But with Posi-Joist everything is open making it a piece of cake just sliding in from the side. It´s all about the time saved, and the simplicity" he continues.


Norrhuset mounts the beams into cassettes in their factory before being delivered to the building site which makes it even easier. Only fallback may be that the nail plate is pretty hard to get loose when you may want to cut the beam - But on the other hand that´s just what it is supposed to do" Frank adds smiling. Posi-Joists are delivered ready to mounted straight from the producer so that´s a situation that seldom occurs though.

Nowadays Norrhuset works with nothing but Posi-Joists as their prefered system of joists. "I really do not see any reason to use anything else" Frank finishes before heading back out in the rain to continue building.
